Expanding cross-border research networks and integrating dedicated academic talent into global consortiums remain core pillars of STARTINFORUM’s mission. In line with these objectives, a strategic working meeting was recently held with Dr. Elif Nacar Öcalmış to evaluate current progress and map out future initiatives under the umbrella of the Horizon Europe Human-AI project.
The meeting marked an important operational continuation of a collaborative relationship that began at the International Conference on Language, Teacher Education, and Applied Linguistics (ICLTE 2026).
From Conference Presentation to International Consortium: A Case Study in Professional Initiative
The trajectory of Dr. Elif’s collaboration with STARTINFORUM serves as a good example of how strategic academic networking yields tangible professional outcomes.
Dr. Elif initially connected with our organization during the ICLTE 2025 conference, where she presented her research on the methodologies of teaching Urdu.
Recognizing a mutual alignment in educational innovation, she expressed a strong intent to develop broader collaborative frameworks with our association.
This initial contact successfully led to her formal integration as an active research participant in the Human-AI project consortium, managed under the leadership of STARTINFORUM and the IATELS Association.
During the working session, Dr. Elif shared her personal professional journey, emphasizing a reality often faced by modern researchers: sustained professional growth, international publication tracks, and global visibility are rarely accidental. They require persistence in self-development, rigorous research, and the decisive courage to step beyond domestic boundaries. Her evolution from a conference presenter to a key participant in a multi-national European project consortium provides concrete evidence that an active, decisive approach to international networks creates definitive pathways for professional prosperity.
Strategic Vectors: Enhancing Global Integration for Academics and Students
The primary focus of this working session was to identify scalable mechanisms to better integrate regional students and academicians into international educational and research frameworks. The discussions highlighted several key developmental fields:
1. Advancing Language Pedagogy and Cross-Cultural Awareness
The working meeting carved out clear pathways for enhancing the structural frameworks of two specific linguistic domains:
-
Turkish as a Foreign Language: Developing modern, tech-enhanced pedagogical tools to streamline how Turkish is acquired by non-native speakers globally.
-
Expanding Urdu Pedagogy: Building stronger institutional awareness around Urdu language education, thereby strengthening educational, cultural, and corporate ties with Urdu-speaking regions globally.
2. Career Readiness and Professional Identification
A significant portion of the dialogue focused on the readiness of university-level students for the globalized professional market. Both parties emphasized that students must become active participants in international projects while they are still completing their academic degrees. Early exposure to cross-border research, digital collaboration tools, and international seminars acts as a crucial anchor for a student’s professional identity, providing them with the practical experience needed to secure competitive international careers.
3. The Philosophy of Lifelong Learning
The meeting reinforced a shared commitment to the principle of continuous self-development. True academic and business leadership requires a commitment to lifelong learning, independent of an individual’s current institutional position, titles, or past achievements.
